OCTOBER 4th, 2005 - The Selby Ave JazzFest was a tremendous success despite the day long rain that kept some less hearty jazz aficionados home. The Insight News called it the “most comfortable, yet tantalizing, Jazzfest presentation that the Twin Cities has had a in a long while” (read the article!).

Over three thousand people braved the elements and were treated to an excellent day of music, food, friends, art, and rain. Headliner Jason “Malletman” Taylor’s music was just in time to clear away the rain. He also held a workshop with the local talented musicians, who also performed at Selby Ave JazzFest, at the Walker West Music Academy. The food and artists brought a rich diversity and range to the event. “I'm not sure about the names of the handful of barbeque vendors, but what I do know is that I didn't need any sauce, or teeth, to eat the succulent ribs and chicken,” said Insight News. Jewelry, paintings, fresh fruit, soaps, voter registration, and health checkups were all available though out the day. Pottery throwing was even happening all day.

If you would like to support JazzFest you can help out by stopping by Golden Thyme Coffee and purchasing a t-shirt or hat, the proceeds of which help to make next year’s event even better.

Next year’s Selby Ave JazzFest will be September 12th, so mark your calendar now!
